Standing Rules

 

The Club may elect Honorary Members on the recommendation of the Executive Board. Any member may nominate another member to be considered as an Honorary Member of the Club at any time during the Club year. Members should submit a letter to the Board with the nominee’s name and reasons for the nomination. The Board considers the submissions and votes to designate an individual or individuals as Honorary Member(s), which is announced at the Annual Meeting in May. An Honorary Member is a life-time honor. Qualities to be considered for Honorary Membership are dedication, creativity, leadership, works well with others, enthusiasm, and generosity of spirit. Honorary members are no longer charged dues.

 

When the Visiting Nurse Association became incorporated, it was voted in 1953: “The Woman’s Club will donate $100.00 each year to the Visiting Nurse Assoc., Inc.” In 1999 it was voted to raise the amount to $200.00 each year. In March 2020 the Board voted to raise the amount to $300.00.

Upon the death of a member, or her spouse, parent or child, a memorial contribution of $50 shall be sent to the organization designated by the member or the family.

 

Upon the death of a former member the Board will consider a $25 donation to the organization designated by the member or the family. [Standing Rules revised 2025.]

 

Scholarship recipients must attend Manchester/Essex Regional High School for four years.

Only matters pertaining to Club work may be considered by the Club. Only notices pertaining to Club work may be read from the platform.

 

Any member having a matter which she wishes considered may present it in writing to the Corresponding Secretary who will bring the same to the Executive Board for action.

The Chairman of any committee may, at the invitation of the President, be invited to a Board Meeting.

The Board shall consult the Parliamentarian when any changes in the Bylaws or Standing Rules are being considered.

When the Manchester-Essex schools are cancelled on a Club day due to inclement weather, the Club meeting will also be cancelled.

 

With permission from the President, the silver service and teacups may be loaned to other organizations.

 

Change of address should be immediately reported to the Treasurer.
